A current picture, beyond periodic reports.

Continuous monitoring observes changes in assets, communications and behaviour. It helps detect new devices, unusual connections or departures from expected operation, including between periodic inventory reviews.

Armis uses available data sources to update asset context and flag events that need investigation. It supports security and operations teams in deciding whether a change is planned, acceptable or requires a response.

From information
to action.

Asset changes

Identify a new device or a profile change worth comparing with inventory records and change plans.

Communications

Observe asset relationships and traffic crossing agreed segment boundaries.

Signals for investigation

Route events with asset context to the appropriate team or integrated handling process.

How to start?

  1. Choose the segments to observe and establish expected behaviour and connections.
  2. Agree on rules, exceptions, event recipients and integrations with existing tools.
  3. Review signals with IT and OT, update context after planned changes and assess alert usefulness.

Requirements and limitations

Observation continuity depends on data source availability and coverage. An anomaly alert is not automatically a confirmed incident. Platform monitoring does not imply a 24/7 SOC service from atstratus.ai or automatic response to every event.

Illustrative use case

A new connection.
What comes next?

A change in communications

Engineering workstation
New segment

New connection

Review in the context of a change

An engineering workstation connects to a segment it has not previously communicated with. This is a signal to review in the environment’s context.

Before deciding how to respond

  1. Planned changes

Compare the event with agreed maintenance or changes.

  2. Segmentation rules

Check whether the connection fits the established rules.

  3. Further investigation

Use the context to decide the next step.

Your questions.
Clear answers.

Does Armis monitoring replace a SIEM?

That replacement should not be assumed. Armis provides asset context and observations that can feed a SIEM and other security processes. Integration scope should match the existing architecture.

Does every unusual behaviour indicate an attack?

No. Planned changes, maintenance or new operating patterns may explain it. An event needs to be validated in asset and process context.

Can OT segment boundaries be monitored?

Communication data can help identify connections crossing agreed boundaries. Coverage depends on traffic observation points and available data. Monitoring alone does not implement segmentation.

Who handles detected events?

Responsibility must be defined within the organisation. Events can be routed to security, IT or OT teams according to escalation rules and integrations.
